THE RUGBY TRIALS
OTAGO UNION SUGGESTS
ABANDONMENT
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, September 12,
At Monday night's meeting of the Otago Rugby Union the question of All Black trial matches came up for decision and, in view of the present situation, it was decided to send a telegram to the New Zealand Union suggesting that, as there Avas very little likelihood of the tour of South Africa eventuating, the trials should be abandoned. It was stated that employers were giving every facility for employees who wished to enlist in the Territorials or other branches of the service to do so, and it would therefore be unfair to ask them to release men to engage in Rugby trials.
