ROSE DAY WORKERS
For the past 17 years a band of women has set. aside one day each week during the winter to manufacture roses for Rose Day, and five of the 21 women at present assisting have been doing their share each year since the inception of the work, during which time 35,000 roses have been manufactured. Recently, to celebrate the completion of a winter's labour, they were entertained by Mrs. Carrol and Mrs. Bramlcy at the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association rooms. * The president of the association, Lieut.-Colonel A. Cowles, and the secretary, Mr. J. Spence, thanked the workers for the splendid support they 1 were giving the R.S.A. Mrs. Bramley responded on behalf of the women. A tiered cake decorated with red roses was cut at afternoon tea, and photographs were taken before the gathering dispersed.
