THIRTY-MILE RADIUS FROM CITY

A meeting convened by the Shandon Golf Club to consider the formation of a Wellington Golf Association, which, it is held, could with advantage handle many matters of interest to local clubs, has been called for early in October The New Zealand Golf Council has given its approval for an attendance of affiliated clubs as far north as Paekakariki and all clubs in the Hutt Valley. Clubs are invited to send two representatives.

The proposed constitution of the association is as follows: —The association shall consist of one delegate from each of the clubs affiliated to the New Zealand Golf Association within a radius of 30 miles from the Wellington G.P.0.. applying for membership. The objects: (1) To foster and encourage the game of golf; (2) to approve of tournaments and inter-club competitions for all affiliated clubs; (3) to grade clubs for the purpose of inter-club fixtures; (4) to set up or lay down a definite system of handicapping players; (5) to arrange and control any such golfing matters decided on by the unanimous vote of the delegates.

The annual subscription for each club will be £1 Is. A general meeting can be called on the request of any six delegates. The association is to appoint a management committee at the annual general meeting consisting of the chairman and five delegates for the purpose of arranging and controlling the interclub matches, and other matters coming within the objects of the association. It is to have power to appoint such sub-committees as are necessary for any special work, and to frame rules and regulations to govern the playing of inter-club competitions and other matches, such rules and regulations not to be altered unless' by a decision of a majority of delegates.
