BUTLERS WITH COUNTESSES
A.R.P. wardens of evei-y class and rank met at dinner in Mayfair recently to enable senior wardens and their juniors to get together. The dinner was arranged by Brigadier-General C Carpenter, who is in charge of Westminster A.R.P. arrangements, and was in 'the chair. He was assisted by Brigadier-General Sir Edward Belling ham. in charge of District A, the area enclosed by Park Lane. Mount Street. Regent Street, and Oxford Street Th--guests included members of society their butlers, footmen, and other servants. Lucy Countess of Erroll and Brigadier-General Carpenter, both of whom are Mayfair wardens, sat at the same table as their Senior Sector Warden, Mr. John Langmead. porter in a small block of flats. Mr. Nat d'Ayer,* composer of "The Only Girl in the World," wrote a special version of "Ten Little Nigger Boys." entitled "Ten Little Wardens." The host of the dinner, which was given at the San Marco Restaurant, was Captain JO'Reilly, an A.R.P. warden.
