LIQUOR AT BELLAMY'S

CONTINUANCE OF SALE

OVERWHELMING MAJORITY

Members of the House of Representatives and the Legislative Council favour by an overwhelming majority a continuance of the sale of liquor within the princincts of Parliament Buildings. When the House assembled yesterday the Speaker, the Hon. W. E. Barnard, announced that a poll of legislators had been taken on the question as required by Statute. This had resulted in a majority of 69 in favour of the sale of liquor. Details of the voting are as follows: Legislative Council. —For the sale of liquor. 28; against 4. House of Representatives.—For the sale, 60; against, 15. This decision will remain effective until the next poll is held during the first session of the next Parliament.
