UNIVERSITY'S EASY WIN
University had the enisest of »vms over Kastbourne on Saturday, beating the latter at Ke'lburn Park, by 20 points to 3 in a game thai was characterised by occasional flashes of useful individual play. Generally speaking the play was distinctly poor and sadly lacked combination. University fielded a more vigor-, ous pack than Eastbourne and this was one of the main -factors in their win. In , the University forwards Burke ami McVeagh were outstanding, . with Hansen solid and McXicol sighted on occasions liac at halt-back whipped out .excellent passes from~the •scrunis -but the hack line,did not function too well. Cooney, a promoted third grade player, scored a couple of tries, but generally speaking he did not fit in loa well, which was understandable. Tricklebnnk was sound and Kissel!, at fullback, played one of his best games of the season. Gill and Posselt (until he was carried from the field injured) were prominent in the Rastbourne rearguard bu' it was difficult to single ou< atiy forward head and shoulders above the others In n pack that was outplayed Scorers for University were Cooney (two), Tricklebank. Burke, and Rae Rae converted one try and kicked a penalty coal. For Eastbourne Cheyne scored a try.
