(Received August 12, 11.5 a.m.)
NEW YORK, August 11,
In the Rye tennis tournament, Mrs, S. Fabyan (U.S.A.) beat Miss K. Stammers (Britain), 6-1, 6-2. Mrs. Fabyan's* amazingly easy win stunned the gallery of nearly 1000, who saw the British girl suffer the most lopsided defeat she has ever had in international competition. Miss Stammers attempted to come to the net repeatedly, but Mrs. Fabyan stopped her with lobs and passing shots.
Miss A. Marble (U.S.A.) beat Mrs. R. Mathieu (France), 6-3, 7-5, ensur-. ing an all-American final.
In a semi-final of the men's singles, F. A. Parker beat W. Van Horn, 3-6, 8-6, 6-1, 6-4. Van Horn's smashing tactics won the first set, but Parker's steadier play then prevailed.
