With rain again widespread, several English county cricket teams endeavoured to make up for lost time by , closing their innings before all the wickets had fallen, and, in other instances, teams were dismissed for low scores. Gloucestershire suffered a setback by being beaten outright by Glamorgan in a match in which only twenty-one wickets fell, while Yorkshire scored a win against Leicestershire. Middlesex also won outright. There were some notable bowling performances, including eight for 30 by Voce (Nottinghamshire) and eight for 24 and five for 64 by Martin I (Worcestershire). Surrey, 99 for two. The matc-k was abandoned. Gloucestershire v. Glamorgan, at Bristol.—Gloucestershire 223 for seven declared and 128 for three declared (Hammond not out 73). Glamoran 235 for seven declared (Smart not out 101) and 120 for four (Smart not out 67). Glamorgan won by six wickets. Kent v. Middlesex, at Canterbury.— Middlesex, 358 (Edrich 91, J. Smith 101 not out). Kent, 138 (Allen six for 46) and, following on, 156 (Ames 89; Peebles four for 46). Middlesex won by an innings and 64 runs. . Lancashire v. Essex, at Manchester. —Essex, 289 for eight, declared. Lancashire, 83 for two. The match was abandoned. Leicestershire v. Yorkshire, at Leicester.—Yorkshire 155 (Walsh five for 56, Drake four for 43) and 134 for three, declared. Leicestershire, 89 (Robinson six for 34) and 103 (Johnson five for 16). -Yorkshire won by 97 runs. Northamptonshire v. Derbyshire, at Northampton.—Northamptonshire, 169 (G. Pope six for 38) and 208 for eight (Brookes not out 101). Derbyshire, 199 for six, declared. Derbyshire won on the first innings. Somerset v. Nottinghamshire, at Weston-super - Mare. —Nottinghamshire, 111 (Andrews six for 47, Meyer four for 28) and 154 for five, declared (Hardstaff 75). Somerset, 72 (Voce eight for 30) and 96 (Butler six for 17). Nottinghamshire won by 97 runs. Worcestershire v. Sussex, at Worcester.—Sussex, 62 (Martin eight for 24) and 172 (Martin five for 64). Worcestershire, 297 for eight, declared. Worcestershire won by an innings and 63 runs. j
