CENTENNIAL DATES

WAIRARAPA DISTRICT

MASTERTON, This Day.

Dates for the celebration of the Centennial in the Wairarapa district were approved by the Wairarapa District Zone Committee as follows:—Akitio County, March 9; Pahiatua Borough and County, April 14 to 20 (inclusive); Eketahuna Borough and County, February 3; Masterton Borough and County and Castlepoint County, March 14; Mauriceville County, March 2; Carterton Borough and Wairarapa South County, March 7; Greytown Borough, February 17; Featherston Borough, February 10; Featherston County, dates of Greytown, Featherston and Martinborough Boroughs; Martinborough Borough, March 30. In some cases dates may be subject to slight amendment.

The committee also approved local memorial schemes as follows:—Akitio County, Centennial Park scheme at Pongaroa; Pahiatua Borough and County, tree planting in streets and in Carnival Park, formation of playing area and camping ground in park; Eketahuna Borough and County, formation of children's playground: Masterton Borough and County, tree planting 'on Masterton approaches; Greytown Borough, rest room; Martinborough, swimming baths. A Carterton Borough and Wairarapa South County proposal for the improvement and renovation of the Carterton swimming baths was referred back, as it was stated the national council would not approve the proposal, which was more in the nature of maintenance.
