RAIN OVER ENGLAND
CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP

General rain throughout the country again affected the county cricket matches, most of which were abandoned. In the only match which was won outright Yorkshire beat Glamorgan. Results are:—
Derbyshire v. Gloucestershire, at Chesterfield.—Derbyshire, 121 (Scott seven for 53) and 120 for two. Gloucestershire, 198 (Hammond' 62; Mitchell six for 71). Rain stopped play. Gloucestershire won on the first innings.
Essex v. Kent, at Chelmsford. — Essex, 172 (Avery 78; Watt five for 29). Kent, 51 for one. Rain stopped play, and the match was abandoned.
Glamorgan v. Yorkshire, at Cardiff. —Yorkshire, 234 (Yardley 85) and 186 for eight, declared (Jones five for 60). Glamorgan, 194 (Robinson five for 60) and 140 (Verity four for 40, Robinson five for 59). Yorkshire won by 86 runs.
Hampshire v. Surrey, at Portsmouth. —Hampshire, 301 (Walker 108 not out; Brown seven for 86) and 94 for four. Surrey, 240 (Knott eight for 85). Rain stopped play. Hampshire won on the first innings.
Lancashire v.' Warwickshire, at Manchester.—Warwickshire, 135 (Garlick five for 44, Pollard four for 40). Lancashire, 98 for four. Rain stopped play, and the match was abandoned.
Nottinghamshire v. Sussex, at Nottingham.—Sussex, 335 for five (John Langridge 158, H. Parks 100). Rain stopped play, and the match was abandoned.
