WESTFIELD MARKET FIRM,

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, August 2.

At the Westfield stock sale today, competition was very firm for a slightly smaller yarding of ox beef, late rates being easily maintained. Cows and heifers were quoted steady at late rates. Prime quality held to late rates in a long calf sale, poor and unfinished sorts easing. The small entry of pigs made firm late rates under keen competition. The full entry of sheep made firm late rates for the well-finished sorts; a proportion showing the effects of the recent wet weather sold at lower rates. The lamb entry was heavier, and the demand was confined to prime sorts, plain lambs easing.
