ISLAND BAY SUB-BRANCH
A meeting of members. of the Island Bay sub-branch of the New Zealand Red Cros* Society was held on Tuesday night. A class consisting of twenty women and twelve young men is now undergoing training in first-aid, home nursing, hygiene, and sanitation, air-raid and auti-gas precautions, and will sit for examination for first aid certificate* in about four weeks. It is hoped to enrol men and women to farm other classes and thus have v the nucleus ol strong detachments In the district in the event of emergency. Shopkeepers in the district ar* co-operating by enrolling members and ln collecting funds, which are urgently needed. The election of officers resulted as follows:— President, Jlrs. C. E.
