Mr. W. J. Taylor, treasurer of the New Zealand Rugby League Council, arrived in Wellington today from Auckland to complete final arrangements for the departure of the Nev/ Zealand Rugby League team for England. Mr. B. A. Abbott, Christchurch, associate to Mr. Justice Northcroft for the past two years, is resigning. His successor is Mr. J. Kent. Mr. Abbott is a candidate for a post in the British Colonial Administrative Service. He will leave Christchurch on Monday for Auckland, where he will spend a month before sailing for England. Captain R. Guthrie, quartermaster of a battalion engaged in training recruits for the llth Sikh Regiment, Indian Army, arrived at Auckland by the Mariposa on Monday to spend three months on holiday in the Dominion. Mr. A. P. Bower, assistant Canadian Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, who has been transferred to Sydney, left Auckland by the Niagara on Monday, accompanied by Mrs. Bower and their two children. Mr. S. H. Craig, of Wellington, New Zealand manager for Paramount Pictures, left by the Niagara for Sydney, accompanied by Mrs. Craig and Mr. F. B. Thompson,' Auckland manager.. Mr. R. S. Battersby, who has been a shipping contractor in India . since leaving the Indian Army, in 1926, arrived at Auckland .by the Mariposa from Sydney with the hope-of-settling in New Zealand. He was accompanied by Mrs. Battersby. v> Mr. R. F. Malfroy, manager of -. the Bank of New South Wales in Auckland, will leave by the Awatea on Monday to take up his appointment as inspector of the Queensland division of the bank, with headquarters at Brisbane. He will begin duties in Bris^ bane about August 9. Mr. Malfroy's successor, Mr. K. J. Provan, who has been assistant inspector , for Queensland, has already arrived in the Dominion and reached Auckland from Wellington by motor-car yesterday. Mr. R. C. Tuck, 8.A., B.Sc, has resigned from the staff of Wellington College, having accepted an appointment on the staff of King's High School, Dunedin. His resignation was received with regret at yesterday's meeting of the Wellington Colleges Board of Governors. Advice has been received from London that Dr. Roger Marshall, son of Dr. P. Marshall, of Lower Hutt, has been awarded a Diploma of Medical Radiology, England. Dr. R. Marshall is at present lecturing at King's College, London.
