NAVY LEAGUE'S WORK
A successful year is reviewed in the annual report of the Navy League to be presented to the annual meeting on July 24. The report appeals to all members to follow up Eai-1 Beatty's suggestion to bring in at least one new member and to give assistance to the league by donations. By these means it is believed it will be possible to increase the league's influence in moulding public opinion and funds will be made available for educational work. . .
The report shows that the school membership curing 1938 reached 828. The Masterton sub-branch reports that the adult membership increased from 166 in 1937 to 208 in 1938, and the school membership from 176 to 325,' in spite of the restrictions ©f the Wellington Education Board. The branch passed a hearty vote of thanks to the teachers in the district for their help'in; assisting^with the enrolment of pupils. In the Marton sub-branch the adult membership exceeded 100 for 1938 and the school membership .was 138, both ■considered very satisfactory.., , s ... ~- ...
