WANGANUI, This Day

An attempt to tow the Port Bow en off at high water, about 11.30 a.m., proved unsuccessful, despite the united efforts of the tug Kahanui and the steamer Rata, and the stranded vessel's own power. A slight southerly breeze sprang up. but the sea remains calm and the weather is in favour of salvage operations. So far the ship is in no immediate danger.
