BOWLING

WELLINGTON CLUB

Although it was a real wintry night, about fifty members of the Wellington Bowling Club attended at the club's pavilion last evening to listen to the first of a series of six fortnightly talks on the technique and laws of the game of bowls to be given by Mr. Frank Ross, the club's honorary coach. Mr. A. Longmore, vice-president, presided. A pleasing feature was the goodly number of young players present. Mr. Ross dealt in a most interesting and informative manner with the etiquette of the game, including the friendly reception of visiting players avoidance of anything likely to disconcert clubmates or visiting opponents when playing, and so on.

A- general and useful discussion followed. The next talks will be on the duties of the various players in a rink, the use of the mat. strategy, driving, laws of the game, etc.
