FROM THE SIDE LINE

PLAYERS AND THE GAMES

Hospital's forward line on Saturday triumphed over Waterside almost as much by good luck as by good management, though there was no denying that they deserved their win, as being less ineffective than their opponents. 0 a, * « « * * Jeromson was the best of tho Hospital front line, in the first half at inside-left and in the second at outside-left, where he replaced Lawler, who came to centre-forward after the retirement of Trewick at the interral. Harris was brought on and he filled the in-side-left berths Miles was a hard worker at outside-right, and Tweedie was fair enough at inside-right, but all tho forwards on the field could have done better. • • » • » • • Lambert, Todd, and Rogers made up a strong Hospital half line. Todd in particular did good work, and he was almost equalled in value by Rogers. * « » « » • » Jeffery, at right-back for Hospital, was the best man on the field in the game against AA'aterside. He played with coolness and deliberation and was the principal opponent of the AV'atersldo vanguard. McCallum, at leftback was not so good. »•■•••» In goal for Hospital AA'yatt played with a risky confidence that never failed him, though at times it looked as if it would. • «•«•>*• AVard, Harris, aud Jordan, Waterside's last line of defence," were hard pressed at times by Hospital, and the backs, Harris and Jordan, were inclined to get rattled by tho rigorous Hospital onslaught. * * * * « * c Calder ad Traynor, Waterside's wing-halves, went well, but Hazel, at centre, played what was for him a feeble game.

None of the AA'aterside forward line played with distinction, all of them missing excellent chances.
