A DRAWN GAME

DIAMOND AND MARIST

Missed chances characterised the game between Diamond and Marist at Kelburn. Diamond Avere the chief offenders in this respect, but Marist were not far • behind. Each team secured the doubtful honour of missing an easy penalty by banging the ball straight into the arms of the custodian.

Diamond applied the pressure eavly in the game, despite the disadvantage of playing against the sun. Once within range, however, they could do no more, and for about fifteen minutes play oscillated between the half-way mark and the goal line. Then Marist broke away, and R. Nunns scored. Play for tho rest of tho half was fairly even, with Diamond having a slight advantage. The second half was also even, in that both teams had an equal share of the attack. De Feu, of Diamond, netted the only penalty of three awarded in the match. Marist had a turn at missing chances, and showed that they could do this very well. Swain and M. Quirke scored for Marist, and De Feu and Alexander for Diamond, making the final score: Marist 3, Diamond 3.
