BOXING
FOSTER KNOCKS OUT KITT
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
PALMERSTON N., July 12
Though Arnold Kitt, Hastings, made a plucky showing, he proved no match for the Canadian Johnny Foster, who knocked him out with a left to the solar plexus early in the eighth round of the welterweight boxing contest at the Palmerston North Opera House tonight..
They met at even weights, but it was early made apparent that Foster's left hand would prove the deciding factor. Kitt was anxious to make a fight of it, but he knew full well that the moment he lifted his right hand he would uncover Foster's pet target, and he soon realised that it would prove equally fatal to leave his head unguarded. It proved too big a handicap, for Foster bided his time, and in the seventh round drew the defence and landed a teft hook to the body. The punch hurt tnd Kitt did not really recover.
