NO-CONFIDENCE MOVE
QUESTION OF PEDIGREE
Seizing on an extract from the remarks of the Leader of the Opposition (the Hon. Adam Hamilton) regarding the Speech from the Throne, the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) had-something to say about the length of the Opposition's no-confidence amendment, moved by Mr. Hamilton in the House of Representatives last night., :
"One inch of that speech had been used'to give an indication of the Government's policy, and forty-five inches had been pure propaganda," said Mr. Hamilton in his speech. "The speech did not tell what the people wanted to know but what the Government thought they ought to . know. The people-wanted-to know what the Government was going to do to handle the difficult situation that had arisen."
Later in the debate the Prime Minister referred back to this, and holding up a copy of the amendment remarked: "Here "is the amendment moved by the Leader of the Opposition. If I knew anything at Trentham tomorrow with a pedigree half as long as this, I would put 'the Consolidated Fund on it." (Laughter.)
Mr. Hamilton: "There is a lot more if you want it \
Mr. Savage: We have good measure.
