RUGBY LEAGUE
At a meeting of the Wellington Rugby League Board of Control last night, the St. George Club was granted permission to travel to Christchurch on July 29, to play senior and reserve games against Sydenham.
Mr. Holland, sole selector, stated that players to train for the representative fixture with South Auckland on July 1 would be announced after the games next Saturday.
A cup presented by Messrs. Hope Bros, was allotted to thse junior grade championship.
It was announced thast further overtures had been made to the City Council to secure the Basin Reserve for the representative game on July 1, and that in view of the importance of the fixture, the New Zealand Council was also approaching the Wellington City Council.
Senior fixtures for Saturday will be as follows: —Central v. Miramar, Showground; St. George v. Randwick, Newtown Park; Newtown v. Petone, North Park.
