STILL MISSING
TWO DEERSTALKERS
ANXIETY MUCH INCREASED
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) : LEVIN, This Day. At 11 a.m. today there was still no sign of the missing deerstalkers, Francis Corrison Swanwick (29) and Herbert Pickering (20), and concern is growing for their safety.
Both men left their sleeping equipment in the Te Matawai hut on Sunday and took . only enough food for a day. They have now spent three nights in the open, in most unfavourable weather.
The first search party returned yesterday afternoon after traversing the ground where the missing men were last seen. They found no trace of them.
Another party of six left last evening and a further party of four is going today.
The belief is .gaining ground among those connected with previous expeditions that a mishap has befallen one of the men, in which case they would not separate unless as a last resort to gain assistance. \ "The hills are clear today for the first time since Sunday.
