POSTERS ON POLES

THEATRE EMPLOYEE FINED

Posters advertising the film "1 Am a Criminal" placed on power poles by William Gordon, theatre employee, led to his conviction in the Magistrate's Court today, before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M.

Sergeant J. Sutherland described how, on April 20, he saw Gordon tacking posters to power poles on Customhouse Quay. , He asked him for one of the posters, and was handed one. Later, when walking along Lambton Quay, he saw similar posters. Witness said that the defendant continued to put up posters after he had been warned. He said that others were doing it, and why shouldn't he?

Gordon, who failed to appear, was convicted and fined £2 and costs.
