CHRISTCHURCH. This Day.

A line of forty-seven store ewes sold for ten shillings, representing less than threepence-for each ewe, at the fortnightly stock sale at Methven yesterday. The auctioneer's commission for the line was threepence, which, when, added to the yarding fee of 3s lid and probably a droving charge of ten shillings, made the owner's expenses 14a 2d, a loss of 4s 2d on the sale. It was stated that the sheep were in lair condition and would have brought 7s o* 8s each in "good times."
