Registrations under the Social Security Act of women and of youths and girls of 16 years of age and over have to be effected by the end of the month, and as the final day approaches the Wellington Chief Post Office officers are handling thousands of applications a day, with the daily totals increasing all the time. Valuable assistance was being given to the Post Office, said the Acting Chief Postmaster (Mr. F. G. Nind) today, by the (forwarding of the applications of employees of city firms in groups. This resulted in the saving of much time, both for the Department and the individuals concerned, and it also helped to diminish the inevitable last-day rush.
