A.J.C. COMMITTEE

RADICAL CHANGE MOOTED

(From "Vedette.")

SYDNEY, April 7. For some time there has been an increasing wave of discontent among members of the A.J.C. with the constitution of the committee, and there is indication that in the near future there will be an infusion of fresh blood. Members are not satisfied with the conduct of affairs by the senior racing body in this State, and at a meeting this week a sub-committee was appointed to investigate methods for alteration of election and to enable the retirement each year of up to four members of the committee.

It has not been stated definitely what are the aims of the reformers but it is known that the scheme is that at least two members of the committee will retire each year and. will not be eligible for re-election. Naturally, this move has caused a flutter in the hitherto peaceful precincts of the Bligh Street office, where it had become an accepted idea that once elected for the committee "a member stayed on that august body. It is not believed that the change will be brought about easily, but the personnel of the sub-committee appointed is such that if any reform is possible it will be brought about. Some years ago in New Zealand revolutionary changes were made in the constitution of the Canterbury Jockey Club and it will be surprising if in the vary near future almost as great sweeping changes are not made in the administration of the Australian Jockey Club.
