TE HUIA'S OWNERSHIP

Te Huia, after his four wins in quick succession among the hacks a month or so ago, has lately failed to make the grade to open class, but with a short respite he would probably freshen up to be a useful performer in open company during the winter. He has also been raced over fences, and later on he may be seen in this role again. It is understood that the price Mr. J F Kiley, of Hawera, paid for Te Huia last February was £250, plus another £250 in contingencies, to be paid proportionally out of the first winnings The gelding's four wins since have been worth £510 gross, and apparently Mr. Kiley has cleared off the contingencies, otherwise the joint interest (which is still on the register) would have obliged bracketing with Silk Sox at Stratford last Saturday, which was not done. Te Huia is a six-year-old full-brother to Silk Sox, who is still owned by Messrs. S. and R. G. Topless.
