WARWICK FARM

CHANCE FOR DEFAULTER

The final and most important *.* the Sydney preludes to the A.J.C. Atrtumn Meeting, opening next Saturday with the Doncaster, St. Leger, and Sires' Produce Stakes, is the A.J.C. Warwick Farm Meeting, which will be held tomorrow. -Great interest is being taken in this meeting here, as Defaulter is expected to have his first race in Australia in the Chipping Norton Plate, a w.f.a. event run over li miles.

The Chipping Norton Plate has been won by a number of New Zealanders in the past. The last horse bred in the Dominion to succeed was Silver Scorn in 1934, and prior to her Chide (1931), Phar Lap (1930), and Limerick (1928) also won the race. Limerick was twice beaten into second place in the event, by Amounis in 1927 and by Strephon in .1929. Lough Neagh was victor on three occasions, in 1933, 1936, and 1937, c thus setting up a treble such as he also registered in the Rosehill Rawson Stakes, decided a week previously. There are also two leading handicaps on tomorrow's programme, the Liverpool Handicap, £600, 6 furlongs, and the Warwick Farm Autumn Cup, £750, 1_ miles. The Autumn Cup last year saw the French importation Genetout the winner, the horse subsequently failing at Randwick. The result of these events will give the final important clues to the A.J.C. Doncaster and Sydney Cups.
