PANTRY TEA

Miss E. Lee, who has held executive office with the St. John Ambulance Brigade at Marton for the past five years, was tendered a "pantry tea" by members, on a recent evening. Good wishes were expressed for her married happiness, and regret at losing so valuable a member. Three Hostesses. Mesdames Burnett, Reynolds, and Reid were hostesses recently at a "kitchen" afternoon tea party in honour of Miss Alice Rogers, whose marriage will take place shortly. Entertaining. Mrs. Webb-Jones was hostess on Saturday evening at a party which she gave in honour of her grandson, Mr. Lance Spurdle, who is to be married shortly, and on Sunday evening a number of friend1; met at her home for supper to honour the Rev. R. Dudley and his father, Mr. J. Dudley, of Suva. Farewell Party. Mrs. R. Richardson, of Ohakune, was the guest of honour at a social evening arranged by a number of Mends. The party was held at the home of Mrs. J. Whyman, and the guest of honour was presented with several gifts and regret expressed that she was leaving to reside at Auckland. Personals. Miss N. Capstick, Ohakea, is visiting Christchurch. Mrs. Mathieson and Misses N. and G. Mathieson, of Waverley, are visiting Wellington and Hawke's Bay. Mrs. J. Steere, of Marton, is visiting Wellington to meet her brother, Mr. A. L. Gosling, and his wife arid daughter from Southampton. Mr. Gosling is travelling supervisor of the Shaw Savill and Albion Company. Mr. and Mrs. V. B. Willis are visiting Wellington for the Willis—Elliot wedding. Miss Joan Willis is the guest of Mrs. A. Elliot for her brother's wedding, at which she will be a bridesmaid. Mrs. C. B. Strouts and Miss June Strouts have returned from a week's visit to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. S. Newcombe are spending a holiday in Auckland. Mrs. Webb-Jones is in Auckland for the Dudley—Green wedding. Mrs. E. A. Barton is visiting Auckland. Mrs. M. Grimmond, Hokitika, is the guest of Mrs. Duncan Strachan for the Haworth —Strachan wedding.
