TURF NEWS IN BRIEF

The Trentham horseman P. Burgess will ride Dungarvan and Suleiman on Friday. With an element of luck Titter might have won the two events she contested at Carterton on Saturday. Though his connections are not altogether satisfied with his weight, Globe Trotter is now to run in the Pacific Handicap at Trentham on Friday. Homily, Entail, and Submission will be brought down to Trentham from Wanganui tomorrow. The trio will also race at Awapuni before returning home. No two-year-old in the district has made better progress during the last two months than Beau Vite, who should be very hard to beat in his Wellington engagements. Meamea has done well since winning at the Wellington* Meeting in January, and he is being given more than an outside chance in some quarters of winning the Thompson Handicap. Trebor has risen superior to all the rehandicaps he has lately received, and

he has been exceptionally well treated with a rise of only 31b in the Tinakori Handicap .at ..Trentham on Friday. He is actually running out hack nominations with only, .8.8, while three-year-old Sternchase, with 9.8, has well over £100 yet to win to leave hack ranks! Irish Belle, 8.0, and Gamos, 8.4, should be included in the fie Id -ior the Awaiti Handicap on the first day ;of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting at Paeroa on Friday. Gamos is not an acceptor for the Netherton Hack Handicap. Not Out, who figures on the minimum in the Pacific Handicap on -Friday, is a chestnut colt by Winning Hit from the Paper Money mare Dutch Money, from the same family as Count Cavour and Gustavo, and he showed early speed in his first race at Riccarton last month. He is owned by his breeder, Mr; G. Gould. Amigo has gone on the right way since Wanganui. According to a Wanganui report, he is to run in the Railway Handicap, in which he is likely to race prominently, though his ownertrainer, Mr. L. G. Paul, would have preferred to have taken on the Thompson Handicap had a suitable light rider been available.
