CORRESPONDENCE

"PLASMT A TREE"

(To the Editor.) Sir, —It was with some astonishment I read a paragraph referring to ■ remarks made by the Hon. W. E. Parry on the above subject.' How can a Cabinet Minister make such statements while tenants who destroy and despoil are kept on people's property under the so-called Fair Rents Act? Despite an agreement by the tenants of my property to keep the garden in order I can do nothing as I am advised an agreement is not effective under the Act; the tenants remain to do as they like. For the last six months I have been obliged to look on—and gardeners will understand with what mixed feelings—while my trees and plants, some of five to fifteen years' growth—are gradually dying. Some have already died. It is hardly conceivable but it is true; and the destruction is going on.—l am, etc., /THREE SCORE YEARS AND TEN.
