Metropoman rnms —receiiuy lumicu in New Zealand for the presentation of carefully chosen film productionshave secured the franchise for the famous "Mayerling" for this country and Australia, and this attraction from a leading French studio will be here as a contribution to the pictures of 1939. Based on Claude Anet's novel, "Idyl's End," "Mayerling" reveals for the first time in history the true story of one of the world's great romances —that of Prince Rudolph of Austria (played by Charles Boyer) • and Baroness Marie Vetsera, which role gives Danielle Darrieux an opportunity to display her versatility and charm. The strong story, set in Vienna to the accompaniment of Viennese music, makes "Mayerling" a theatrical treat. City and provincial premieres will be announced shortly.
