DR. MERTON HODGE.
Dr. Merton Hodge returned to Lon[on last week from Paris* where he liscussed with Virginia Vernon the ranslation'sntq French of his adapta-, ion of Oltve^Schreiner's "The Story>f an AfricanyTFarm," which recenjly^ iad a short ftun' m London. It is ikely that the^iay may be produced n Paris at l'Theatf c dcs Arts in about wo months by M. Andre Moreau, who >roduced "The Wind and The Ram it the same theatre last year, writes 'The Post's" London correspondent on ranuary 30. An American option has >een taken out on "The Story of an African Farm," and it is possible that 3r. Hodge may go to New York to liscuss its production there with Mr. 3tan. Harris. Th 6 adaptation is shortly obe published. At the New Theatre ast year, Mr. Basil Dean, the producer, lid not follow entirely Dr. Hodge's idaptation, and the production consejuently differed in several respects from the New Zealander's idea of the nost successful method of telling the story from the stage. When the play s published it will be Dr. Hodge's, idaptation without the alterations .in-" xoduced at the New Theatre. Dr. Sodge has written another play. At ;he moment the actress to whom the eading part has been promised is already engaged. Dr. Hodge is making 10 comment on his new work until legotiations for its production have oeen concluded.
