"THE BLACK WATCH"
TONIGHT'S MEETING
The movement to form a Wellington company of the New Zealand Scottish Regiment will be advanced tonight, when a public meeting, convened by the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop), will be held in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall with the object of forming a Wellington Scottish Regimental Association. j The objects of the association will be to encourage recruiting for the company and to raise funds for the extras j in equipment that distinguish a Scottish Regiment. By special permission of her Majesty the Queen, Colonel-in- j Chief, the New Zealand Scottish Regiment has been allied to the Black Watch, the 42nd Regiment of the line, and will be privileged to wear the i Black Watch uniform. There being so many Scots in Wellington, who were either born in Scotland or are of Scottish descent, it is hoped that there will be a large attendance at tonight's meeting, which will ensure the success of the movement. The Mayor will preside. Prior to the meeting, which will commence at 8 o'clock, the Wellington Caledonian Society's Pipe Band will play outside the Town Hall.
