INDUCTION SERVICE

KENT TERRACE CHURCH

Members .of the Presbytery of Wellington last night inducted the Rev. H. R. Fell, M.A,, B.D. (Melbourne), formerly of Greymouth, into the charge of the Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church, Wellington. The Moderator of Presbytery, the Rev, Dr. I, W. Fraser, Levin, presided. The church was filled. Representatives of several other churches

were present.

The Rev. Colin McKenzie, 8.A., Petone, who preached the sermon, took his text from Proverbs xxix, 18, "Where there is no vision the people perish." Mr. McKenzie said the Hebrews triumphed only because of the messages of their prophets. Heathen nations all about them were gradually rising, only to fall into oblivion again.

Mr. McKenzie said his text was true of modern life. • He gave several illustrations of how nations had declined when they load forgotten God and of how they had gone ahead when they put God first. In the world today, he said, the Christian faith offered the one true way of hope because it offered a vision of God, a God who had a purpose and a plan for the world.

At the conclusion of the induction cerempny members of the congregation welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Fell at a social gathering, over which the Rev. P. J. Wainwright, interim moderator, presided.

Speeches of welcome were made by Dr. Fraser, on behalf of the Presbytery of Wellington; the Rev. J. M. Simpson, Mastertoh; the Revs. N. F. E. Robertshawe and I. C. Edwards, on behalf of the Church of England; the-Rev. A. Muriel, on behalf of the Congregational Church; Captain E. Thompson, on behalf of the Salvation Army; the session clerk, Mr. A. Fraser, on behalf of the congregation; the leader of the senior Bible class, Mr. J. Coulter, on behalf of the youth of the church; and Miss V. Dawson, on behalf of the women of the church.

A lamp and a cheque were presented to Mr, Wainwright on behalf of the officers and the congregation of the church in token of his work as interim moderator.
