MIDGET CAR RACING
TOMORROW'S MEETING
Little machines built for speed and skilfully controlled are/ to provide something new in the realm of sport for Wellington. A fleet of midget autocars has arrived here, and in control of experienced motorists the cars will be1 in action at the Kilbirnie Speedway tomorrow night. A quarter-mile track takes some negotiating, but it is suited to thesej cars, which make a thrilling spectacle as they traverse the circuit— at high speed on the straights and with plenty of power in negotiating the bends. ,
Leading American, English, and Australian drivers are amongst those to handle the cars tomorrow night in introducing this form of sport to Wellington. Swede Lindskog (U.S.A.), who is a Pacific Coast champion, and Bill Reynolds (English champion) are two noted competitors, and they have met elsewhere on numerous occasions, their contests being invariably very thrilling affairs. Then there are Roy Richter, another American representative, and the Wylie brothers from Australia, all of whom are accomplished in the art of midget car racing. Several of the leading New Zealand midget racing motorists will also, be taking part.
A comprehensive programme has been arranged, and this includes races of varying lengths—from lap dashes to miles in distance. Other information regarding what promises to be an eventful night at the Kilbirnie Speedway is given in notices appearing elsewhere in "The Post."
