BADMINTON

Wellington's 1939 badminton season will open officially on April 17, if negotiations begun by the association's executive last night are successful. It was decided to make application for the Winter Show Stadium, where club and inter-club matches are played, for that date. The annual meeting of the association will be held on April 26. Recommendations to the annual meeting from the committee are that the executive should be increased from five to seven members, exclusive of office holders, and that the halfyearly meeting of delegates should be held in July instead of September, as provided in the constitution. All clubs are to be circularised with regard to available courts at the Winter Show and applications for courts will be dealt with by the committee before the season begins. Mr. D. O. Whyte, association president, presided.
