SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS

An antieylonc has been moving from the Taxman Sen on to northern New Zealand but conditions have become very disturbed over south-eastern Australia. Yesterday there were moderate northerly winds on parts of the cast coast but elsewhere south-westerly prevailed and were very strong in some exposed positions. Apart from showers in the far south the weather was mainly fair. By this morning the winds had turned to freshening northerlies from Cook Strait southward, while the weather was fair to cloudy and milder.
