TURF NEWS IN BRIEF
Wangarfui first-day acceptances are due at 9 o'clock this evening. The Awapuni Gold Cup this year will be worth £450, including a trophy valued at £100.
Winners on the first day at vYaikatq last February engaged again tomorrow were King Rey, Malagigi, Llangollen, Calorie, and Windcress. Sec-ond-day winners were Jack Tar and Te Monowai.
Waikato winners at the Spring Meeting last November included Jonathan, Orwere, Valerian, Farland, Royal Vaals (twice), Brazilian, and Llangollen, all of whom are in tomorrow's Te Rapa fields.
While working at Riverton early in the week, Lady of Spain, a member of A. J. Peart's team, was fatally injured. According to a Riccarton report, The Wrecker, who was put aside after his return from Sydney in the spring, has been recommissioned by F. D. Jones.
Density, who suffered from a badly bruised foot after her race at the C.J.C. Summer Meeting, which no doubt accounted for her poor display, is in work again and will accompany Lady Kinnoul, Blue Coat, and Grey Wight to Trentham next month.
