LONDON INTEREST
REPORT ON DROWNINGS
The thanks of the Central Executive of the Royal Life-saving Society, London, for an exhaustive report on drowning fatalities in New Zealand over the past ten years were expressed to the New Zealand Surf Life-saving Association in a recent letter from Mr. A. E. Biscoe, chief secretary of the society. The report was compiled by a sub-committee of the New Zealand Association.
"Although the fatalities over a period of ten years appear to be heavy," stated the letter, "the general executive is glad to see that at any rate they are reducing in number. My committee feels that the statistics in connection with the various drowning cases are particularly interesting, and I am instructed by it to see if it is possible to obtain a similar report of drowning cases in this country. There is one official report issued by the Registrar General's Office, but it is notl> ing like so fully dissected as your own. lam asked to offer to you and your executive its hearty congratulations upon the compilation of this report."
At last night's meeting of the association, the president, Mr. P. F. Coira, thanked Messrs. F. H. Jackson and R. Perkins for their comprehensive report.
