AN EXPLANATION

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Through your paper, in fairness to all concerned, please let me clear two statements: — (Ist) The two rooms in which we are living are nicely furnished at 35s weekly, but only suitable for a couple; also that the landlady has been most considerate and helpful under trying circumstances. (2nd) That I have use of the washhouse, etc., any time I wish to use same. If someone would only let me have a three-roomed flat and kitchen or halfhouse, I should not be wanting a State house, but this is impossible to get in Wellington on account of the children. —I am, etc., MOTHER'OF THE TWINS. February 10.
