DEFENCE LEAGUE CAMPAIGN

In view of the present international situation and the possibility of the British Empire being again involved in war, the New Zealand Defence League has'decided to inaugurate a Dominionwide campaign forthwith, with a view to rousing public opinion in support of its objective—that'this country must take immediate measures to speed up its defence preparations. The Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C., Dominion president, and Mr. E. Reeves, Dominion organiser, left today for Masterton, where' they will address a public meeting tonight. Tomorrow r they will fly to Nelson, where they will address a public meeting in the evening. On Wednesday night they will speak at Blenheim. i On Saturday^ February 18, the patron of the league, Major-General Sir Andrew Russell, and Mr. Perry will leave for the South Island, where they will address public meetings in all the principal centres; The opening meeting will be held in Christchurch -on Monday, February 20. Arrangements will be made later to address meetings in the North Island. .
