YACHTING

GOOD CONDITIONS

ANNIVERSARY REGATTA

HARBOUR RACES

A fresh north-westerly breeze provided excellent sailing conditions for the various classes of keelers and centreboarders which competed on the harbour today in the Wellington Provincial Yacht and ' Motor-boat Association's Anniversary Day.regatta, The fixture, which is an annual one, attracted rather better entries this year than it has done for some time, and competition,' as usual, was keen.

Clyde Quay Wharf was the centre of activity, all races starting and finishing off it.'

The keelers raced over a course approximately 10 miles long. Starting on a line between the Clyde Quay and King's Wharves, they went to Jerningham, to the Miramar buoy, to the Datum Point buoy above Ngahauranga, and back to the finishing line between the Clyde Quay and King's Wharves.

The centreboarders, except the Takapunas, started between Clyde Quay and King's Wharves, and went to Jerningham to Coromandel buoy and back to a buoy between Clyde Quay: Wharf and the boat harbour, twice round, and finishing between Clyde Quay Wharf and the las^ buoy. The distance was about six miles. Takapunas sailed over the same course, but only once round. This morning races were held for fourteen-foter, 12ft 6in, and I-class '< centreboarders and for combined keeler classes. The Tauranga race was not sailed, principally because of the weather, which was a little heavy for this type of.craft. Races for the same classes' were provided on the afternoon's programme, with the addition of races for speed boats and launches. Placings, handicaps, and actual sailing times in the various races decided up to the time of going to press were as. follows: — , . FOURTEEN FOOTERS.
