OPENING DAY'S PLAY

There were no major surprises itt the opening day's play of the North Island tennis championships which ara being held in conjunction with the Wairarapa Association's championship and handicap tournament. One of the features of the day was the men's championship singles match between S. Painter, the 17-year-old Wellington Wilding Shield representative, and W, J.
