DEATH AT NINETY

BLIND OTACO NOTABILITY

(Special to the "Evening Post.") DUNEDIN, This Day. Deprived of his sight at the age of eight through meeting with an accident, Robert Ayson has just died at Toiro, in his ninetieth year. ' I Born in the Highlands of Scotland, Mr. Ayson came to Otago in 1853. Notwithstanding the loss of his sight, he gained an incredible knowledge of the countryside, and was able to travel in any part of the Clutha district unaided. His blindness had no ill effect upon his character, for he was always of the most cheerful and happy disposition. He possessed a fine baritone voice, and was always prominent _ at social gatherings, his specialty being Scottish songs.
