IMPORT LICENCES
TO BE ISSUED AFTER CHRISTMAS
ARRANGEMENTS MADE
CLASSIFYING GOODS
"Import licences will be issued immediately after the Christmas vacation," stated the Minister of Customs (the Hon. WVNash) today. "Arrangement? for the issue of licences have been completed and they will be issued by the Collectors of Customs."
Mr. Nash mentioned one thing that would help the Customs authorities* in getting applications through quickly. Those who were applying for licences to import would be of great assistance if they could classify their goods according to the grouping of the tariff items. There were several hundred items in the tariff, and it would, be much easier to handle applications if the goods were classified under one of these items.
In a few individual cases information would be necessary regarding particular classes of goods where the tariff item included a comprehensive list, Mr. Nash added. If the information required had not already been furnished the Collectors would advise applicants.
