CHRISTMAS PARTY

CALEDONIAN SOCIETY

; The Christmas party held by th« Wellington Caledonian Society was an outstanding success, eclipsing all gatherings: of a like nature, held by the society for many years past. Th« Allen Street Hall was packed to capacity. Games of all sorts were indulged■in by the children, under the direction off Messrs. W. A. Blair, H. Clark," and C. Stewart,' j;un. After being regaled with ice creams, jellies, sweets, and soft drinks, the children awaited Santa Claus. The Christmas tree was hung with presents. The lights were suddenly switched off, loud noises wera ibeard, and when the lights were restored there beside the tree stood; Father Christmas arrayed in nis visiting robes. Each child received a present with the best wishes of Santa Claus. '

A dance followed for1 the elder folk, Mr. Blair and Mr. H. Clark, being in charge.

'•■ During the evening a number of items were given by the young people. Miss- Phyllis Marsh did a clog dance, Miss Audrey Cuthbert a tap. dance, Miss Nola Hansen'an Irish jig,. Miss Joan Kerr the seann- trnibhai*, Miss^ ;Betty Sines an operatic dance, Miss Audrey Young the sailor's, hornpipe; Mis& Edna Wbitelaw a skippipg dance, and Miss Kathleen Sander and Owen. Sines gave, songs. Mrs. McGowan'i hill-billies gave an item.

During the evening- Mrs. McGawan and Mr. C. Sander acted a& accompanists, and Pipe-Major C. Stewart and Mr. A. Barclay provided the musi« for the Scots dances.
