OPERATION AT SEA
(By Telegraph—Press- Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day.
An appendix; operation at sea, performed by the ship's surgeon, Dr. Joseph Auerbach, was the only incident of note on the Monterey's passage from San Francisco to Auckland. The patient is a passenger, Mr. R. E. Smith, who is travelling to Sydney. His condition became acute between Honolulu and Suva. The operation was success-, ful,. and Mr. Smith is now recovering.
