'< AiiTexcellent sale for stock was held at Levin and the heavy entries were practically all cleared under the hammer. - Pigs were yarded in larger numbers than usual, but this did not affect the tone of the market and pens sold readily. The entry of sheep was slightly smaller and this gave realisations a firming tendency* Better
sorts in the fat cattle section were.in; demand and! prices remained on aj! par with late rates. There were par-! ftieularly foeavy entries of r.unners and ; vealers and values increased appreci- j ably. Two lines of dairy cows and heifers in milk were keenly sought after and returned prices satisfactory to the venders. \ ; Abraham and Williams give the fol- •■' lowing range of prices;— Pigs: Light porkers made 34s to .£2 ss; medium, £2 7s to £2 12s 6d; heavy, £2 15s to £3 Is; baconers, £.3 3s to £3 10s; p.b. Berkshire boars, S| and : %% guineas; pib. sows, to farrow, 3| \ .and 4£ guineas; stores, 24s to 28s 6d: : heavier, 32s 6(1 to 37s 6d. ;
Sheep: Fat lambs made 225; b.f. hoggets, 19s 9d to 21s; fat hoggets, 20s to 22s 6d.
Cattte; Light fat .cows, £3 7s 6d to £3 12s 6d; medium, £4 to £5 10s; heavy, £6 2s 6d to £# 10s; prime, £7 12s 6d to £9 7s 6dj runners, £3 to £§ Is; vealers, £2 Is to £2 19s; potter bulls, £3 to £6 17s 6d.
A small herd of cows and heifers in milk were offered on behalf of Mr. S. Barclay, and brought from £6 to £9 15s; yearling Jersey heifers, to £.5 7s 6d; heifer calves, to 355.
The Loan and Mercantile Agency Company submit the following realisations:—
Pigs: Light porkers made 36s to £2; 3s; medium, £2 7s 6d to £2 12s;; heavy, £2 17s 6d to £3 2s 6d; bacon-! ers, £3 8s to £3 10s; stores, 18s to 34s 6d.
Sheep: Fat shorn ewes made Ss to: 13s 2d; fat to.f. shorn hoggets, 18s 9d to 20s 10s; spring lamias, 21s 3d to 235 ; (3d. !
Cattle: Light fat cows made £3 7s 6d; to £4 10s; medium, £5 to £5 12s 6d; heavy, £6 to £8 2s 6d; fat heifers, £5 15s to £10 ss; runners, £4 17s 6d to £6 7s 6d; veaters, &2 2s 6d to £3 17s $d; store cows, £2 2s 6d to .£2 15s; yearling bulls, £3 7s 6d to £4 ss. A special line of cows and heifers in milk, on account of Mr. W. Bagg, met with a ready sale They were all in good condition and brought an average price of £9. Heifers sold at up to £10 15s: second calvers, £8 to £8 12s 6d: third calvers, £8 15s to £10; mature cows, £6 5s to £10 10s.
