ACCIDENT CLAIM

VERDICT FOR DEFENDANTS

After a retirement of an hour and a quarter in the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon a jury of twelve returned with a verdict for the defendants in the case in which George Albert Kendall Williams, a company manager, of Christchurch, claimed on behalf of himself and his four children, £4037 5s 6d damages from David Norman Costley, a clerk, and James Costley, a foreman.

The case resulted from the death of the plaintiff's wife after she was struck in Brooklyn "Road by a car driven by one of the defendants and owned by the other. Each side alleged negligence against the other.

Judgment for the Costleys was entered by Mr. Justice Quilliam.

Mr. W. P. Rollings appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. H. F. O'Leary, K.C., and Mr. S. G. Stepnenson, for the defendants.
